Information Security

Vigilance and attention to security is a responsibility shared by every individual and Utah Telehealth Network member site. Utah Telehealth Network provides a multitude of security services to ensure that sites and their resources, data and application are secure. Guided by the Utah Telehealth Network Network and Information Security Policy (pdf), Utah Telehealth Network provides a variety of services and tools to its member sites.

Network traffic is continuously monitored, logged and analyzed, with threats addressed as they arise. Proactive vulnerability management (pdf), web filtering, intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) and malware scanning are conducted on all devices in the network, including participating sites' devices. Reports on the most serious vulnerabilities and the steps to mitigate or remediate them are sent to the sites’ IT staff weekly. Critical filtering, IDP, and malware alerts are communicated and addressed immediately.

Security services available to Utah Telehealth Network member sites include:

  • Firewalls managed by Utah Telehealth Network
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN) set-up and management
  • Vulnerability scanning and guidance on remediation
  • Web filtering
  • Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) monitoring
  • Secure remote access
Utah Telehealth Network is part of the Utah Education and Telehealth Network
