Connectivity
The Utah Telehealth Network provides robust, secure, and high-performance connectivity solutions for healthcare providers across Utah. UTN’s statewide network is a unique and vital component of our digital healthcare infrastructure.
Our statewide network services ensure reliable access to the internet and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure, enabling seamless collaboration and access to critical telehealth resources. With a focus on scalability, security, and 24/7 support, our connectivity offerings are designed to meet the evolving needs of healthcare institutions.
Internet
The Utah Telehealth Network’s internet service delivers high-capacity, resilient internet connectivity to many of Utah’s healthcare providers. Through strategic partnerships with multiple internet service providers (ISPs) and bulk purchasing, UTN achieves exceptional performance and substantial cost savings for member sites.
UTN’s robust network infrastructure includes nine diverse external paths through four geographically distinct locations, ensuring uninterrupted service and exceptional performance.
Included Services
- IP Addressing: IPv4 & IPv6. Dual-stack support ensures compatibility with legacy and modern internet address protocols, enabling future-ready connectivity.
- Domain Name Service (DNS) Hosting and Registration. Managed domain name registration and reliable domain name service (DNS) hosting ensure fast and consistent network access to online resources.
- Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Protection. Built-in mitigation services protect your network from distributed denial-of-service attacks, ensuring uninterrupted access and security.
- 24/7/365 Network monitoring. UTN’s Network Operations Center (NOC) continually monitors the network for performance, security, and reliability. It provides real-time threat and outage detection, volatility scans, and remediation support, along with ongoing guidance through monthly drop-in meetings and quarterly reviews of high-volatility items.
- Rural Healthcare Connect Fund. Through the Rural Health Care (RHC) Connect Fund, UTN helps eligible Utah hospitals and clinics secure federal funding for broadband services. By serving as the lead for a consortium of healthcare providers and managing the application process, UTN ensures compliance with program requirements, reduces administrative burdens, and supports affordable, high-speed connectivity. This service enables rural healthcare organizations to deliver enhanced telehealth services, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen community health infrastructure.
